-    Try calling your best friend if you’re upset instead on munching on something salty or sweet. Having someone to listen to you sometimes is all you’ll need. By talking, you are able to release emotion instead of pushing it back down with food.

-    Animals are a great source of positive energy; they can make you smile 24/7 even if they are bad sometimes! Turn to your dog, cat, bird, rodent, or any type of animal to help lift your spirits. If you do not have an animal then take a trip to the park and watch the birds, squirrels and other wildlife.

-    Browse the internet and look for items you may want now or in the near future. Download music, play games or catch up on the latest news, sports and gossip around the world.

-    Rewind time and go through your movie collection. Find a movie you love from your past, settle in and enjoy it for the night.

Following these steps and other similar ones will help you fight the urge to eat to feel better. Next time the day just isn’t going your way, don’t think about the gallon of ice cream you have in your freezer, take a deep breath and try something besides eating.
