Too Fat To Graduate?

Lincoln University is causing an uproar with their new policy which states that in order for students to graduate, they must be at a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30. This requirement has to do with their “Fitness for Life” program which was started in 2006.

After reading plenty of other reactions related to this story, the vast majority are people who are against this policy. Keeping students whose academics are excellent from graduating because they are overweight has many opponents of the policy very unhappy.

On one side, what does physical fitness have to do with getting good grades in class? Maybe more than you think.

On the other hand, it’s the right of Lincoln University to set whatever guidelines they deem necessary in order to graduate. A sound mind in a sound body seems to be the motto here.
