Drink your water

Dec 12, 2008

drinking_waterWater can make or break your diet. Yes, you absolutely should be drinking 8-10 glasses per day. Go for a gallon of water if you can.

Water helps your kidneys to work at optimum levels. However, if you’re dehydrated, the kidney’s job is transferred to the liver. The liver’s function is to break down fats. If it’s doing some of the kidney’s work, it won’t be able to burn up that fat.

There are certain factors that determine exactly how much water you should drink every day.

    • How much heat exposure you have
    • How many calories per day you consume
    • How active you are
    • Your gender

If you’re really active and eat a lot, drink at least 10 glasses or bottles. Be careful with caffeine because it’s a diuretic and will make you expel fluids more rapidly. Caffeine and sugar just dehydrates you so stick to water to furnish your body with fluids. If you want a boost to your exercise plan, carry a water bottle around with you.

Water is really a good way to lose weight, not just for the stuff they mentioned here, but also because it fills you up. If you drink 12-16oz of water with a meal, you are less likely to stuff yourself with extra food– You get that fullness feeling from the water instead. Works great.

I cut out drinking soft drinks about 10 years ago and replaced them with water and I can’t tell you how much this has helped. Besides the fact that I no longer ingest an extra 200-500 calories a day of pure sugar, I also get all the benefits that they mention in the article above. My doctor tells me that a half gallon of water a day can be really good for women!! Take note ladies!

When I first started dieting to try and shed these 40 extra pounds, I got frustrated early. I lost a couple of pounds but then seemed to hit a brick wall. I just couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t losing weight. Then I started drinking water. What a huge difference it made. So far I’ve lost 20 of my 40 pound goal.

I love water, I myself also gave up sodas and caffeine, and replacing those drinks with water made the biggest difference! By the way, my boyfriend bought me the Hydra coach water bottle a few months back, the one that you guys sell, and I love it! It is so neat, and a really cool gift idea!

I’ve heard that you can actually take in too much water leading to illness and even death! Is this true? Has anyone else ever heard about this? How much is too much?
