Eating a well-balanced diet and staying physically active sometimes doesn’t cut it for so many people out there, so try these suggestions to help vamp up your normal routine.

1. Be an early bird. If you maintain a pretty tight schedule, then try working out in the morning. This way you cannot procrastinate and find reasons why not to work out after you get home later in the evening.

2. Add some flare to your workouts and switch up your routines. If you do cardio, try something besides the treadmill or elipticall like rollerbladding, swimming or cycling. If you’re in the gym doing circuits for instance, try doing them outside and enjoy the weather while doing so! Mixing up your routine will help keep you focused and interested in working out.

3. Embrace your body and curves. I believe that you will not always be confident in what you have to work with, but embrace it anyway. Find that inner confidence, be happy and then kick your own butt! If you have goals, work hard to attain them. Remember that great bodies don’t grow on trees!

Set attainable goals

1. It is advertised only at 3 a.m. Do not believe everything you see on TV, anyone can buy an infomercial.

2. “Cabbage Soup” is part of the name. Many diets featuring grapefruit, eggs or any single food will only work in the short term. Besides there is a limit to how much cabbage one can eat before you feel nauseous and bloated and have your calorie intake drop to a semi-starvation level.

3. There are drastic before and after photos. Don’t give into the hype on ads that rely heavily on sensational testimonials, like “I lost 100lbs eating ice cream!” Read the fine print always! By law, weight loss claims must be representative of all clients or include a disclaimer that states results are not “typical”.

4. You practically need a chemistry degree to understand what you’re consuming. There is no science behind the notion that digesting different foods simultaneously produces toxins that make you gain weight. Don’t fall for that not “allowed” to eat fruit with other foods, or protein and carbs during the same meal. Your body can multitask!

5. It says you will keep weight off forever. Anytime you go off a diet you risk returning to the chip chewing, couch potato ways that made you overweight in the first place. The best route to long term weight loss is sensible eating and exercise.

- Antiobiotics (Fuluroquinolones). These are usually prescribed for upper-respiratory, intestinal and urinary tract infections. They may cause tendon inflammation and an increased risk of serious tendon injuries.

- Antihistamines. They can cause drowsiness and decrease your reaction time, balance and coordination.

Be aware of any and all of the medication you might be taking prior to exercising. If you have any concerns with some of the over-the-counter or prescribed medication you might be on, contact your doctor with questions.

Fiber plays a major role in weight loss. Fiber slows down the emptying of the stomach, which makes you feel fuller for longer periods of time. It helps activate certain hormones that can extend the amount of time it takes for one to feel hungry again. Fibrous foods need more chewing time, which will give the body more time to register the feeling of fullness. Dietary fiber is highly essential and healthy to the daily functioning of your body. It is easily found in many food groups including:
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Whole Grains
- Legumes

High fiber diets help promote weight loss and requires you to chew food longer than other foods. This process allows time for your body to realize it is full and helps you from overeating. Alongside with weight loss, fiber is most commonly known to help relieve constipation, and is very beneficial to reducing the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

You should shoot for about 30-35 grams of dietary fiber per day if you are a man, and 20-25 grams if you are a woman. This is definitely an attainable amount to aim for daily. Try and eat at least 5 servings of veggies and/or fruit, beans, peas, nuts and seeds, and at least a couple of servings of whole grains throughout your day. If you eat bread, make sure the package says whole grain, not whole wheat or multigrain. Those breads are stripped of the important vitamins and fiber you’re looking for. Six Pack Abs

male and female absWith it being summertime and all, one of the most talked about (and marketed) areas in fitness is getting your abs to show. There are so many abdominal exercises and ab-specific exercise machines that it gets a little confusing to figure out what will actually work.

Guess what? If you want to show off your six-pack abs, you have to get rid of the disgusting layer of fat that is covering them! Sit-ups, crunches and any other abdominal exercises you can think of will only take you so far.

Your abs are like any other muscle group. Training them makes them harder and stronger. Think about a powerlifter who carries a lot of body fat. His muscles are big and strong, but can you see the definition in his chest or calves?

I happen to be one of those fortunate individuals who can carry a relatively high amount of body fat, but still see my abs. I hardly ever do abdominal exercises either. I just recently incorporated ab exercises back into my training routine, not because I want to see them better, but because I want to strengthen my core.

So stop wasting your time and money on the latest late-night infomercial that is promising you’ll cut inches off of your waist just from their one new and amazing piece of equipment. If you pay attention to these commercials, they always have the disclaimer which states something like; “Results not typical. Individual results may vary.” They have to make sure that if you don’t get the results you’re looking for, they can’t be held responsible.

So how do you get your abs to start showing? Proper diet is key! This is a whole other topic which is too extensive for right now, but if you want a sexy stomach that’ll get you lots of attention at the beach, pool, or any other place you plan on showing off your abs, how you eat is going to make or break your abdominal progress.

The herbal ephedra plant has been used for thousands of years all across the world. In ancient times over 2000 years ago it was found in China and used to help treat symptoms of the flu, cold, coughing and other bronchial conditions. In Northern India and Pakistan, individuals would use the dried stems of Ephedra antisyphilitica, an Ephedra Plant Specie found within the region. The Pakistanians would use it as an bronchodilator, which is what ephedrine is used for in orthodox medicine.

In the West Texas and the Mexico Region, Herbal Ephedra was harvested and used to make Mormon Tea, Desert Tea, along with Teamaster Tea, which was prepared from the Ephedra trifurca specie. These teas became very popular and were used for their stimulating effects.

The Herbal Ephedra Plant is prepared very similar to coffee and tea. It would be harvested, prepped and then brewed into a beverage to drink at your convenience. Who has not heard this rambling from a friend or loved one? Let me break it down with some tough love – Jimmy Style. I have coached thousands of people to new bodies and I want to share the common threads in the succesfull programs I have seen during my many years as a fitness coach. Most everyone in the USA ( Califorina excluded lol ) need to grasp these concepts now. Remember – brushing teeth was once an unusual new idea. Trust me, you don’t want to be left behind on this one. Your LIFE and how well you live it are at stake.

Five Rules for Rapid Weight Loss:

  • Stop eating garbage – This means you. Take a good look. I bet there is poor- refined – processed food in your diet every single day. Few poeple can truly claim to eat healthy. Work hard at it and you will see the benefits fast.
  • Start eating food – Real food. This is harder than you think in our world. Ask yourself as you hold the food in your hand, “did it grow or live on the planet?”. The health food industry has blurred the common sense of many americans and I hope for better regulation in health food advertising.
  • Do NOT ingest sugar – None - “Sugar is the Devil” I often joke. The truth is sugar everywhere. You will be shocked as you start to limit it.
  • Start Lifting Weights – This is no longer up for debate. Every human should be involved in resistance training of some kind. The major muscle groups, connective tissues and the bones they are attached to REQUIRE load to maintain health and stamina. Period. Get your a$! to the Gym.
  • Walk Everyday - Not kidding on this either. The Surgeon General even says so. You will not be able to do this overnight. Work towards it. It won’t be that bad – you got used to brushing your teeth everyday didn’t you.

There you have it – Do them all for 60 days and you will probably lose more than twenty pounds. Good luck. Stay Focused.
