Dehydration Causes alot of Problems

Jun 30, 2011

Electro Mix by Alacer

One of the many problems dehydration can cause is difficulty sleeping. That problem usually comes from the use of caffeine. Caffeine causes dehydration by increasing the kidneys metabolic function, which causes your fluids to be forced out quicker. Mild dehydration, has been on the uprise and making other conditions worse, from asthma to heart disease, to infections and many more. 70 – 80% of us walk around in mild to moderate dehydration.

The wide availability of drinks that do not hydrate as well as water & foods have been proven to contain more chemicals, sugar and other harmful things which leads to dehydration. Dehydration has been studied by many top health professionals to find that it had negative side effects such as  reduced work ability & reduced performance during exercise. Dehydration greatly effects how well all of our organs, systems and cells perform as well.

Our bodies have to eliminate toxins thru urine. The more toxins you have the more dehydrated you will be. Stay away from salt in fast foods & sodium loaded snacks that pull water out of your body. Some salt, such as good natural sea salt, is needed to keep cells healthfully plumped with water.

A great hydration supplement available at i-Supplements.com is the Electro Mix Sports Drink made by Alacer. Stay hydrated and healthy!

Young Athletes, a few do’s and dont’s of PROHORMONE/STEROIDS

Most young lifters just want to get “BIG” or “RIPPED” and are led to believe that steroids and pro-hormones will get them their with very little effort. If prohormones are taken incorrectly they have the potential to be harmful, but at the same time if taken correctly they can have great benfits as well.

First off pro-hormones are legal and steroids are not…. period!!!  Although pro-hormones have many of the same side effects of steroids and are taken for the same purpose, steroids are still illegal. Many say that steroids are better, safer and you get more bang for your buck. “Even” if that is true, that still don’t compare to sitting in jail, also with steroids you never know what you are going to get in that bottle or pill or who made it. Pro-hormones on the other hand, you knwo who made the product and where it came from and they supply an ingredients list.

Beginners don’t use steroids a lot of the times because they have no access to them. But it is extremely common for beginning lifters to use prohormones, long before they even learn proper training and diet.

What you need to know if you take pro-hormones/steroids:

No alcohol when taking prohormones because just like alcohol, they can be toxic to your liver. So you can’t afford to destroy your liver with both. You can take a liver supplement to help but don’t just rely on that, DON’T DRINK ALCOHOL if you want to take pro-hormones/steroids.

Eat healthy and do cardio to help keep your blood pressure in check.

Don’t take  prohormones year around, your body needs to function normally. Rule of thumb,if your cycle is 12 weeks then at least take 12 weeks off before you repeat your next cycle.

i-Supplements.com has many pro-hormone/steroid alternatives and other info on this matter.

My Big Life Changes in 2011

Jun 28, 2011

Since I have started i-Supplements back in 2006, my life has become one big rollercoaster. As for i-Supplements itself, the rollercoaster has continued to go up, even half way thru 2011 it just keeps climbing. As for me though, there have been alot of ups and downs and mostly with my overall health. Not that my health is bad, but people that know me, know that I struggle with nutrition and what I put in my body. Hitting the gym has never been an issue for me, that has always been the easy part, but the nutrition part on the other hand, had been very difficult up until this year.

Let us bactrack to June of 2008. At that point in my life I weighed 231 pounds and was not comfortable at all with that weight. To most, I looked big and to most, probably looked healthy, but at 5′9″, that was just too much weight for me to carry around. So now let us move forward to January 2011.

So in January I made the decision to quit eating garbage and to put only good foods in my body. That meant no more sodium, sugar, gluten, fast food, etc. Since January I have been on a strict lifestyle change of 4 protein shakes a day and 2 whole meals a day. I have cooked my meals every Sunday morning religiously for the following week. My meals always consist of ground buffalo, buffalo sirloin, chicken breast, turkey breasts, small amount of brown rice and lots of steamed broccoli. I have not strayed away from this and have loved it, especially the results. Only twice have I fallen off the wagon this year. No excuses, I just fell off.

As for my workouts, I never miss. I train with weights 3 times a week and anyone that knows me, knows that I train a bit crazy. I like to train by myself and really fast. It is not about how much I can lift any longer, it is all about endurance and cardiovascular. If I ever train over 30 minutes, it is too long. Most workouts rarely go past 20 minutes. Some weeks, I might add a couple of days on the treadmill. Time ranging from 45-60 minutes per session, but in all honesty, I do not do it every week. Like I said, I prefer to get my cardio from my weight training sessions.

So, you might be asking what has been the results so far. Well here goes.

1-4-2011 – 6-28-11 (Bodyfat Statistics)

Pec 14 - 7

Subscapular 23 -12

Bicep 6 – 3

Tricep 7 – 5

Lower Back  53 – 28

Suprailiac 20 – 10

Abdominals 40 -15

Quadricep 14 – 7

Calf  8 – 4

Weight 202.8 – 177

Bodyfat change 24.6% – 13%

Lbs of Bodyfat 49.9 – 24.6

Lbs Lean Mass 152.9 – 152.4

So in short I have lost 25.3 pounds of fat and only lost .5 pounds of lean muscle since January 4th of this year.

Overall I feel better than I have in alot of years and if I must so say myself, I look great too! My overall confidence is higher than it has been in years and I will promise myself and all of you that I will stay on this path of good health. We get to make choices every day, so what do you choose to do with your health? Make the right ones for you and your health, for your wife or husband, your children and your friends and family. You only have one body and life, take care of it!

Roger Bowling Supplement Plan Leading Up to Fight with Voelker

Jun 27, 2011

Ater 3 fights under our belts with Roger Bowling here at i-Supplements, we feel confident we have him on the near perfect supplement plan. Sometimes it takes a few fights for an individual to really find out works and what doesn’t work for that individual. After his win against Josh Thornburg at “Strikeforce – Feijao vs. Henderson” on 3/5/2011 we knew we were on the right track. Roger dominated Josh for 3 rounds in all facets including strength and endurance. It was obvious for any of you who saw that fight. For his upcoming and 3rd fight with Bobby Voelker, we didn’t stray too far from what worked for the Thornburg fight. Below we will list what Roger takes on a daily basis and then after we will explain a bit why we have Roger using these supplements.

Roger Bowling Supplement Program

Morning

1 Carlsons Fish Oil Softgel
3 Colostrum Caps by TBR Labs
3 Sub-Test by iSatori
2 Joint Support Caps by Foundation Nutriceuticals

Pre-Workout

2 scoops of XTEND by Scivation
3 Sub-Test by iSatori

Post-Workout

2 scoops of XTEND by Scivation
1 packet of Ultramet by Champion with 1 scoop of MacroGreens
1 packet of LimuZ Nei by TBR Labs

Evening

1 Carlsons Fish Oil Softgel
3 Colostrum Caps by Total Body Research Labs
2 Joint Support Caps by Foundation Nutriceuticals

Before Bed

4 scoops of XTEND by Scivation
1 packet of Ultramet by Champion with 1 scoop of MacroGreens

Note: 1 month before fights, we switch the Ultramet to a low carb whey protein isolate and 2 weeks away from fight if needed we will put Roger on Lepti-Trim Cleanse which is very gentle cleanse.

One of my major worries for Roger is his immune system. When training 2 sometimes 3 times a day you are and will destroy your immune system. If your immune system is shot then so will your shot at a title. The key supplements for building a solid immune system for Roger are TRB Labs Colostrum and LimuZ Nei, Carlsons Fish Oil and also the Macro Greens. Not only are the Macro Greens great for overall immunity but also great for aiding in digestion.

Recovery is another major concern we have due the amount of training Roger does. The key supplement we have him on for his recovery is XTEND by Scivation. XTEND is loaded with BCAA’s, L-Glutamine and Citrulline Malate. We like Roger to drink this before and after training sessions to keep his muscle from breaking down and to help speed and aid his recovery process. The Ultramet and Protein Isolate also is a major factor in his recovery process and also helping maintain his strength levels.

For strength we added the Sub-Test by iSatori which has really seemed to make a big difference in his overall endurance, strength and explosiveness. Probably not going to be real good news for Mr. Voelker.

Mood is key for all things healthy

Jun 27, 2011

When you need help dealing with daily stress, anxiousness, or are feeling down and need a lift, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? There are safe, natural things you can do  to ease stress, relieve anxiety, and lift your mood. Your body has a very specific physical reaction to stress, there are signals sent from the brain that lead to surges of stress hormones. Avoid eating foods that have virtually no nutritional value, fatty animal products, bad – high sugar carbohydrates, hydrogenated fats, and processed oils. All of those foods will make you tired and cranky and be the cause of your body not operating correctly.

Another thing you can do is cut down on caffeine! Caffeine is a powerful stimulant that generates a stress in the body. Watch for caffeine in coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate, over-the-counter cold pills and diet aids. Replace coffee with green tea plus you can also use tea as a relaxant and sleep aid. Avoid alcohol and tobacco products as well.

Food cravings can change your mood and may be controlled, as long as you can recognize whether the hunger is physical or emotional. The unwanted craving will pass if the last meal was a few hours ago and the stomach does not rumble. Watching the amount of food and your meal times will help the negative eating patterns that must be avoided. High-calorie foods should not be kept around the home or office. Also another great tip is don`t go shopping for food if you feel hungry or upset, so that decisions at the store are not influenced by feelings.

i-Supplements has a great selection of Mood Enhancement products for individuals looking to enhance theiir mood naturally and safely!

How Family Dinners Help Your Kids Stay Healthy

Jun 24, 2011

Do you want your child to eat less junk food? Possibly dealing with a child who’s developed an unhealthy eating disorder? Try sitting down to a family meal say researchers in studies recently published.

Following the analysis of more than 15 studies that examined childhood obesity, eating disorders, and family meals, physicians discovered that sitting down to a family meal three or more times a week resulted in a 12% reduction in the odds that he or she would develop an eating disorder. Frequent family meals also led to a 20% reduction in the likelihood of a child’s eating junk food and a 24% increase in their eating healthier foods.

If attempting to sit down for dinner every evening, try taking a seat and starting off your day over breakfast.

You can easily plan these healthy meal times ahead of time. Reserve Sunday afternoon or a slow evening during the week to prep healthy meals so you aren’t in a scramble after arriving home figuring out what to make for dinner!

Twilight Teeth for more affordable teeth whitening

Jun 24, 2011

Twilight Teeth Platinum Kit

Twilight Teeth Platinum Kit

There are many professional tooth whitening bleach products such as Twilight Teeth Platinum Kit and Bleach Bright.
Some teeth whitening products use hydrogen peroxide in concentrations ranging from 15 percent to 35 percent and are sometimes used together with a light or laser, which reportedly speeds up the whitening process. The increasing numbers of whitening oral hygiene products have lead to many questions about the topic such as what are the possible side effects. Commonly, side effects of  ”Professionally” applied hydrogen peroxide products are, temporary tooth sensitivity and occasional irritation of oral tissues. ADA informs patients to see  their dentists to find the best treatment suited for them. This is especially important for patients with many fillings, crowns, and extremely dark stains.

-Whitening toothpastes can remove only superficial stains and some deeper stains will persist.
- Teeth whitening by a dentist can whiten your teeth by as much as 10 to 12 shades
-In-office teeth whitening cost: $650 per visit (on average) nationwide.
-At home kits may give you teeth that are 5 to 10 shades whiter and the cost is way cheaper
-Certain products have the ADA Seal of Acceptance

Many dentists will say  take-home whitening kits such as Twilight Teeth Platinum Kit can produce the best results over time. Take-home kits incorporate an easy-to-use lower-concentration peroxide gel that remains on the teeth for an hour or longer (sometimes overnight). The lower the peroxide percentage, the longer it may safely remain on the teeth. The gel is applied to the teeth using custom-made bleaching trays that resemble mouth guards. Since professional results are basically the same as a good home whitening kit, you should consider buying a good at home teeth whitening kit such as Twilight Teeth before thinking of spending over 600 bucks on once session at the dentists. At $1.59 a session, don’t you think that Twilight Teeth is the smarter, more affordable  option for you to have whiter teeth?

Roger Bowling vs Bobby Voelker 3 set for July 22nd in Las Vegas

Jun 23, 2011

i-Supplements sponsored fighter Roger Bowling is scheduled to face off against Bobby Voelker in their 3rd fight on the StrikeForce Challengers 17  main event on July 22nd live at the Palms in Las Vegas and Showtime. In their 1st fight in Sept 2010,  Bowling dominated Voelker thru 2.5 rounds until a inadvertant eye poke from Voelker stopped the fight due to Bowling not being able to see from the eye poke. Since Bowling was well ahead on all 3 judges scorecards, Bowling was awarded the victory. In their 2nd fight in Nov 2010, Voelker dominated and won by TKO in the 2nd round. The winner of this 3rd fight will be elevated to the main Strikeforce events with fighters such as Nick Diaz, Fedor Emelianenko, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson, Gilbert Melendez and Cris Cyborg to name a few. So to say the least there is alot riding on the line for Roger Bowling and Bobby Voelker in their 3rd and final fight on July 22nd.

Resveratrol is key for endurance athletes

Jun 23, 2011

Resveratrol is a  natural antioxidant compound found in the skin and seeds of  muscadine grapes . Muscadine grapes are not a common grape and they are hard to find and have a bitter taste to them. Resveratrol has scientifically been proven to prolong life, improve health and fight age-related diseases. Also muscadine grapes/resveratrol have been shown to prevent the growth of prostate cancer .

Red wine which contains resveratrol from the grapes can actually improve muscular endurance which has actually lead to athletes taking it for sports performance. Resveratrol also boosts muscle endurance by increasing  energy thus creating components in the cell, which is called the mitochondria.

Running may appear to be a simple function but when it is technically broken down it is clear that the coordination function is very important to the runner. Ageing athletes have a reduction in their hand eye coordination. The use of Resveratrol might be the solution that they are looking for in terms of helping them with their coordination. It can help provide longevity to their coordination, careers and thus  they can produce results even towards the end of their natural career.
