Day 73, January 26, 2012
Good morning everyone! Today is going to be a great day. I get to spend time with my Dad again. I’ve got a staff meeting this afternoon and I’m going to take my Dad to visit my Uncle Raymond and Aunt Lavern. It’s been a while since we have seen them and I think this is just what my Dad needs. My brother called my Mom last night and told her that Dad was feeling so bad that he thought he was dying. I have to tell you it gave me a GIANT wakeup call. If you all will remember my father is disabled due to his out of control diabetes, obesity, and Congestive Heart Failure. I know that part of my weight gain was in part because of my stress level concerning my father’s health. You all know what I’m talking about. We, as women, try to be and do everything. I am definately that person. I am the one that fixes the boo boos in the family. I stressed and had all kinds of negative behavior, ie: drinking, overeating, and laying around the house. Until one day I woke up and guess what I saw in the mirror. It wasn’t that strong person I was used to fixing all the problems. It was an overweight, stressed out, 39 year old blob! I knew I had hit rock bottom. I’ve said in several of my logs that until you are ready to take control of your life and begin your journey to a healthy body and lifestyle there is nothing anyone can say to change your mind. Let me tell you on the day that I finally opened my eyes to what I had become and what I wanted to be it was like I was reborn. I’ve been given a second chance to change the things I had done wrong with my health. It is one of the best decisions of my life. I promise you once you do set your mind to the task of becoming healthy you too will feel like you’ve been given a second chance. It’s never too late. One phrase come to mind and that is “Carpe diem”, which means seize the day! Make the leap! It is so worth it! Ok that is enough of all this serious stuff now it’s time to begin my day..
7:00 am: 1/2 grapefruit with splenda, 3 SlimQuick Extreme, 1 L-Carnitine and water.
7:45 am: 1.5 scoops of Cookies and Cream Ultimate Muscle Potein with 3 TBR Labs Colostrum and 1 L-Carnitine with water.
11:00 am: 1.5 scoops of Chocolate UMP protein shake with 1 L-Carnitine and water. I’m getting ready to leave with my Dad. I’m so grateful for the time I get to spend with him. Make sure you spend all the time you can with your loved ones because you never know when they will be taken from you. I am looking forward to making as many happy memories as I can.
3:00 pm: 1.5 scoops of Cookies and Cream Ultimate Muscle Protein by Beverly with 1 L-Carnitine. I’m past a 1/2 gallon of water now. I have to get ready for my meeting. I haven’t excercised yet but I will hopefully get it in later. I feel a lot better after I excercise. Remember when you excercise your mood improves. Your body releases all this great stuff to make you feel good, endorphines, adrenaline, dopamine and seratonin. It is a great way to help you to relax after a stressful day.
I had to stop and pick up a few things from Kroger and once I got back into the car my Dad laughed and said, “That guy that is walking into the store right now just checked out your butt.” My first reaction was, “No he didn’t”. But then I thought, “Why wouldn’t he?” I dressed nice and had my hair done and my makeup on, I looked really good. So then I thought to myself, “This is soo cool!”
6:45 pm: Dinner time. I’m having Baked chicken with garlic, steamed broccoli, and a fruit salad. I had my 1 L-Carnitine with 2 glasses of water.
I want to say how excited I am to say that as soon as I opened the kitchen door at my Aunt Lavern’s house I was so happy when she said, “Wow, you have lost a lot of weight!” Yay! Yay! Yay! It is just what I needed to hear. I am so happy! Remember everyone positive feedback goes a long way to help motivate us. In our world today, at least in my life, I am sad to say that I do not hear a lot of positive things said to me. No one seems to understand how uplifting it is if you just smile at someone you see in the market and say hello. I will tell you this, at first they look surprised but every time I can honestly say they smile back and say hello back to me. You never know, maybe you just singlehandedly saved that persons life. Isn’t that food for thought?
9:00 pm: I am just getting home. It’s been a lot of fun spending time with Dad again but I am behind. I have to do dishes and get brownies on for a party I’m going to tomorrow. It’s nice to smell them but remember we need to be strong and just say “NO!” I have to get the kids ready for bed and make some dinner for my husband. The poor guy doesn’t get home until after 10:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays because he went back to school to get his Master’s in Business. It makes for pretty long days for him and a lot of extra things for me to pick up but it’s going to be worth it in the end.
9:45 pm: I’m finally drinking my Chocolate UMP protein shake with 1 L-Carnitine, 3 Colostrum by Total Body Research Labs, and water. I didn’t get my workout in. I’m going to get up and run in the morning. My new goal is 1 mile in 15 minutes. I know if I set my mind to it I can accomplish anything. I hope you all have a great night and sweet dreams…..
